About the Diva
Susan Steffan, Breakfast Diva
Susan has spent just under 40 years using her talents, developing skills and gaining knowledge that have all contributed to helping people achieve their goals. In 2012, Susan and her husband and business partner, Don, moved to the tourist destination of Galena, Illinois to purchase Farmers Guest House Bed & Breakfast. Originally built in 1867 as the Farmers Home Hotel, Don and Susan had an ambitious vision for the property and set about working their plan.
Susan completely re-invented the breakfast service at her inn. Susan’s breakfast quickly achieved the title of Best Breakfast in North America which captured the attention of the Food Network. She was an episode winning competitor on Food Network’s Holiday Baking Championship in 2015. Susan showcased her baking and cooking skills on numerous local television shows, and most recently was featured in an episode of Family Dinner on the newly launched Magnolia Network.
Susan has a Masters Degree in Teaching and a 2nd Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. In 2016 She opened the Breakfast Diva Cooking School and held entertaining and informative classes in the tourist destination of Galena, Illinois until 2018. She continues to speak at local and national conferences including the Iowa Bed and Breakfast Conference, Professional Association of Innkeepers International, Association of Independent Hospitality Professionals, and the Association of Lodging Professionals, where she continues to serve.
